Educational Specialist – HV-FAC-9797
Full Time Tenured Track Fall 2024
Minimum Qualifications: Current Dental Hygiene License in New York State, Bachelor’s Degree in Dental Hygiene or related field of study, current CPR Certification, current clinical practice experience with a minimum of 4 years College-level Dental Hygiene or lab/clinical teaching experience. The successful candidate must be up-to-date with current Coursework related to the Accepted Infection Control and Hazard Control Protocol Blood-Borne Pathogen Control Standard, and have completed Coursework in current educational methodology.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide education and continued evaluation for clinical competency related to the current Infection Control and Hazard Control Protocol - Blood-Borne Pathogen Control Standard, OSHA mandates, CDC, FDA, and ADA requirements for students and faculty in the Dental Hygiene program.
• Continually review and implement Best Practices for management of the sterilization and medical emergency components of the Dental Hygiene Clinical facility.
• Review, educate students and implement Best Practices following Quality Assurance policies and procedures for the operation of all dental equipment related to equipment use, wear, breakdown, replacement; perform minor equipment repairs and schedule repairs with Dental Equipment vendors.
• Research, evaluate and purchase all Dental Hygiene Clinic supplies and equipment according to the College's purchasing process;
• Maintain dental supply inventory and supervise the inventory process in the Dental Hygiene Clinic.
• Arrange for In-service programs related to Dental Hygiene theory and practice with Dental Vendors for students and faculty.
• Serve as the Dental Hygiene Department's Infection Control Officer by maintaining a current OSAP membership; attend a variety of courses and conferences in order to remain current; provide annual Infection Control/OSHA Compliance training for all members of the Dental Hygiene Department as required by the College and for professional licensure.
• Assist the Dental Hygiene Program's Affiliation Coordinator serving as a contact for student external affiliation sites related to calibration of Infection Control policies and procedures.
• Participate in all department meetings and contribute to the Dental Hygiene Curriculum Management Plan and the Commission on Dental Accreditation reaccreditation process.
• Participate in Department and College-wide committees.
• Coordinate and Facilitate the Clinical Quality Assurance program.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Dental Hygiene Department Chairperson related to the support of all Dental Hygiene Clinical Courses.
• Participates in staff meetings and staff development activities.
• Participation on departmental, division wide, and college wide committees for the purpose of building community and fulfilling aspirations of professional development is encouraged and supported.
The Salary for this academic year position is $48,981.00.
